Professional Development



We view educators as researchers and seek to form a bridge to the wider educational community by developing programs to support colleagues in their individual and professional development. We offer tours, workshops, and presentations with the aim of collaborating with and learning from each other.
Early Childhood Educators Series Spring Offerings
- February 25 An Introduction to Materials: Endless Possibilities 12:30pm - 2:45pm Through provocations with materials young children questions, collaborate, think and create. The materials take on new meaning as they become a language through which children express their thoughts and ideas. This introduction to using several typres of materials with children will focus on paper, watercolors, and wire. After a short presentation on each material, participants will have time for hands-on exploration of these materials.
- April 15 The Fundamental Principles of the Reggio Approach; in Partnership with NAREA 8:30am-12:30pm An introduction to the school with a tour and time to observe in each classroom, followed by a presentation on the principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach and a group discussion to reflect on the underpinnings of the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
- May 6 Exploring Intentions 8:30am-12:30pm A classroom intention is a flexible framework that guides the year. After a tour and time to observe in the classrooms, we will present the youngest children's year-long exploration of nature and our afternoon program's music intention. These explorations took many forms as teachers and children examined complex ideas.
