For the past 33 years I have worked both locally and nationally with schools inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, focusing particularly on the culture of the atelier. My early career began at the Model Early Learning Center, a landmark in the history of the Reggio Approach in the US. I was a NAREA board member, the founding director of the DC Reggio Alliance, and I currently serve on the steering committee. I have been with St. John’s for almost 25 years–first as a consultant/atelierista and now as Pedagogical Director. Both of my sons are St. John’s alums. I graduated from Smith College where I earned a BA and MEd., and when not at school you can find me in my home ceramics studio.
